The debut novel from L.V. Ivy is open to short-film and proof-of-concept adaptation.

One year.
A lifetime
unresolved.
A fifteen-year-old Westside girl is uprooted to Lynwood at the height of the crack era, falls for the boy on the corner, and loses her stepfather, her first love, and her mother's dream on one block — and spends the rest of her life unable to prove what she believes happened.
Set in 1985 Los Angeles, the book is built from short, self-contained chapters — several of which stand on their own as 10–15 minute short films without needing rights to the full novel. It's written for readers of Eric Jerome Dickey and viewers of John Singleton–era LA filmmaking, in the emotional register of films like Moonlight and Fruitvale Station.
What's availableLimited adaptation rights to individual chapters or scenes, for students, emerging filmmakers, and indie productions building a short film, thesis project, or proof-of-concept. Terms are simple and low-friction by design — festival and school use, with any commercial distribution handled separately if a project grows.
